OLYMPIC PARK INSTITUTE, a campus of NatureBridge, is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching science and environmental education in nature's classroom to inspire personal connections to the natural world and responsible actions to sustain it. Our classroom is the almost 1 million acres of mountains, forest and coastline in Olympic National Park in western Washington, where Olympic Park Institute is located on Lake Crescent.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Educators are responsible for leading groups of 10-15 students outdoors for 1-5 day programs in a residential setting; developing and implementing culturally-competent, inquiry-based field science and environmental education curricula for youth and adults, including hikes, lab studies and other educational activities; managing risk in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications include: experience working with youth; BA/BS; teaching credential or master’s degree a plus; two to three years related experience and/or training; experience teaching in the outdoors; experience with scientific research; effective communication and interpersonal skills; experience working with diverse groups; sense of humor and play; ability to implement and model excellent risk management practices and maintain a safe environment for our students; ability to work flexible hours, including evenings; excellent work ethic; current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications minimum; current driver’s license.
