Maine Conservation Corps is dedicated to conservation projects, volunteers, education, and leadership skills. MCC engages teams in challenging, high quality trail projects.
Projects range from community projects to remote sites on the Appalachian Trail – where teams learn traditional stone working skills while rebuilding portions of America’s premier long distance hiking trail though the Wilderness of Maine.
Typical duties: Lead and teach trail construction and other projects - Provide leadership and training to corps members and volunteers (members are young adults) - Submit reports - Coordinate food, equipment, and transportation for a team of 6 people - Camp in tents along with team members during service sessions - Drive teams to project sites in vans and trucks.
Training: Trail skills - Rigging, stone and timber construction - Wilderness First Aid - Crew Management - Instruction and experience with Leadership - Chainsaw Certification.
Dates: May 3 to August 13, 2010 or May 3 to November 12, 2010
Requirements: One season of trail work experience with one season in an outdoor leadership role - Ability to teach trail skills - Previous experience with construction work - Must be in good health and physically fit with a clean driving record - Job requires a sense of humor and the ability to maintain a safe and enjoyable work environment - Must be at least 20 years old, and a US Citizen - Must be able to motivate and work with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Salary & Benefits
Benefits: $425 -$475 per week – dependent on qualifications and experience.
