Adventures Cross-Country
posted: Feb 03, 2010 and closes: Feb 03, 2011
Description and Details
Spend the summer leading, teaching, and inspiring teenagers while traveling to some of the world’s most beautiful destinations -- Adventures Cross-Country is seeking Trip Leaders! Adventures Cross-Country (ARCC) programs are designed for teenagers (13-18 years old) who want a summer experience that combines trying new activities, exploring new areas, experiencing the independence of traveling with a small group, conquering new challenges, and meeting students from all over the world. ARCC Trip Leaders focus on fostering constructive group dynamics, facilitating activities and initiatives, overseeing outfitted activities, and ensuring that each person in the group is able to safely achieve certain goals consistent with his or her abilities.
ARCC seeks leaders who will be a positive influence on the participants, supporting them throughout the trip and creating a fun, safe, educational, and supportive environment in which they can thrive. Leaders will guide groups of up to sixteen teenagers, with a co-leader, through rigorous adventure programs. The trips are both mentally and physically challenging for leaders and participants, with adventures ranging from fourteen to thirty six days in duration (twenty-four hours a day). ARCC trips fall into one of four categories: Leadership (emphasis traditional wilderness programs), Blue Water (emphasis on water-based activities and marine sciences), Service (which focus on international service projects and cultural exchanges), and Language (which focus on Spanish language in Costa Rica or Spain or French in France).
Leader must be a minimum 21 years of age, hold a current certification in Wilderness First Responder (WFR), EMT, or WEMT by June 2010 (We offer a WFR course in late May for those not already certified - call for details), be in excellent health and physical condition, hold current driver’s license and have a clean driving record, and be available for employment starting early June 2010.
