Rock Climbing Instructor for Teen Camp
Legacy International's Global Youth Village
posted: Feb 10, 2010 and closes: Jun 01, 2010
Description and Details
Create a legacy by working with idealistic, enthusiastic teens.
Every summer since 1979, a dynamic community is created at the Global Youth Village that emphasizes experiential learning and challenges young people to turn intercultural theory into practical action. This year 100+ youths (ages 14-18) and staff from around the world will participate. 2010 highlights include youth delegations from Indonesia and Iraq.
Workshops address issues concerning young people today, such as war and peace, arts & culture, distribution of world resources, prejudice, environmental concerns, and other social pressures. Cultural programming and cooperative living help participants learn to respect differences and discover similarities that transcend cultural, religious, and political barriers.
A position is open for a rock climbing instructor: teach beginning rock climbing during “electives” on the Global Youth Village's natural climbing site. Must be certified. First aid & CPR certification is also required. This position is combined with another primary role (counseling, teaching or an administrative role), as climbing and adventure related activities are not a primary program focus at the Global Youth Village.
Positions are also open for
• teachers / trainers - international relations/political science, peacebuilding, environmental education, arts & culture
• administrative staff - event planning, arts coordination, youth services & social media, logistics & scheduling
• cabin counselors/program specialists with skills in arts & crafts, pool life guarding, sports & recreation
• health care staff - lay or licensed
• food service staff for our whole foods, vegetarian kitchen - experienced and entry level.
