Recreation Therapist - Deer Valley Campus Are you looking for a change of pace? Do you enjoy working with boys in a non-traditional setting? Deer Valley, our residential treatment facility in Linden, TN, is situated on 1,029 acres of wooded and gently rolling hills. A flowing stream helps create a picturesque setting for the nature paths, which wind throughout the campus. The Recreation Therapy position may be just what you are looking for. Our Recreation Therapists work with boys in a Residential setting to develop their abilities to interact with others in a team and increase their self-esteem. An ideal Recreation Therapist is creative and can come up with new and innovative games to keep the resident's engaged, all while building confidence in their abilities and and promoting their teamwork skills. Previous experience working with young people is a must. Requirements Basic Function: To plan, coordinate and implement recreational/experiential services to meet specific group and individual patient needs and to provide recreational activity training opportunities for staff. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in therapeutic recreation. NCTRC certified or eligible for certification and a minimum of one year experience in a related clinical setting. Physical Requirements: Duties performed in these types of environments; highly stressful, potentially aggressive, must be able to participate in all physical interventions. Must be able to participate in all indoor/outdoor therapeutic activities. (hiking ,ropes, etc) Necessary stamina and temperament to work with challenging youth. Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift minimum of 50 lbs.
