As one of the outdoor education program specialists, you will be trained in and expected to lead the following activities: group initiatives, low ropes, high ropes, archery, riflery, cave ecology, stream/water ecology, survival simulation, night hike, campfire, and so much more! You will be responsible for planning and implementing many of these activities, as well as given the opportunity to add new programs to our ever-growing curriculum. The outdoor education program not only works with schools, but with a variety of other groups, such as Girl Scouts, Adventure Guides/Princesses, and various college groups. You will get the opportunity to work with many different ages and backgrounds. As a program staff member, you will be given the chance to both work and live with an amazing team. The outdoor education season runs from mid-August to the end of November and the end of February to the end of May. We are currently looking to fill positions for our Fall 2010 season. Staff training will start on Monday, August 16th. Requirements: - First Aid and CPR Certified - Committed to YMCA core values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) - At least 18 years of age - Good work ethic, good communication skills, good problem solving abilities, creative, fun, energetic, loves to work with children. YMCA of the Ozarks - Trout Lodge and Camp Lakewood is located in Missouri’s Eastern Ozarks and is situated on a 360-acre lake surrounded by 5,200 acres of forest-covered hills. This year-round, not-for-profit, family getaway, conference center, ranch, residential summer camp, and outdoor education center is just 75 miles south of St. Louis.
